For Spring League, EYBA only accepts team registration. So parents often ask us how can I find my child a team to play on for the spring.
There are several ways to try and find a spring league team
Continue with your Regular Season Team
If you already play with a team in the regular season, talk to your coach and ask them if they are looking to continue into the spring. If not the coach, maybe there is enough interest from the players to keep the team together and have another parent step up to coach in spring league. You can also email your zone director to ask if there are players from other teams that are looking to continue in the spring.
Talk to the EYBA Association in Your Area
If you didn't play in the regular season, the EYBA Associations may still be able to help you find a team. Make sure to tell them the players age and gender, often our zone directors have an idea of some of their teams who are looking to continue into spring basketball. You can determine your home association on this page:
Email contacts are available on all association websites
Contact a Club
Clubs in and around Edmonton put together teams to play in our spring league, some are registration based and some are tryout only. Listings of clubs in and around Edmonton can be found on these two pages:
or check here: http://abbasketball.ca/ under "Governance and Membership"
Start your own Team
You can register your own team for spring league as long as you have one coach (18+) and at least 5 players. However, we would recommend having at least two coaches and 8 players.
Please note: EYBA is not responsible or liable to provide or verify vulnerability processes for any associated organizations found through this process. It is the responsibility of the consumer to verify the program they are choosing adheres to all safety policies and processes under the vulnerability sector. It is common practice for organizations dealing with youth to require all coaches/volunteers to submit a vulnerability criminal record. Each program is responsible for the safety of each and every child. Please do you due diligence in selecting a program.
